Algeria's GDP, in nominal value, rose from 33,678.7 billion DA in 2023 to 36,103.5 billion DA in 2024, an increase of 7.2%, the National Statistics Office (ONS) reported on September 4, 2025.
This increase reflects "a 3.4% evolution of the implicit GDP price index over the year," the Office underlined, specifying that the value of GDP in 2024, converted into dollars, amounts to 269.3 billion dollars.
The real growth of the Algerian economy reached 3.7% in 2024, according to a statement from the ONS.
"This evolution reflects the maintenance of a positive economic dynamic. The progression of GDP in 2024 results essentially from the increases recorded in certain strategic sectors," the Office analyzed.
Agriculture, the agri-food industry, the textile industry, and trade contributed significantly, with respective growth rates of 5.3%, 5.2%, 10.3%, and 7.4%.
The growth rate of Gross Domestic Product excluding hydrocarbons recorded a more sustained progression than that of overall GDP. It rose from 4.3% in 2023 to 4.8% in 2024, thus marking "a notable improvement and an appreciable economic performance," according to the Office.
In 2024, domestic demand recorded a growth of 6.9%. This pace "remains sustained compared to 2023 and is driven largely by a notable 9.8% increase in gross fixed capital formation."
Moreover, final household consumption recorded an increase of 3.9% and that of public administrations rose by 2.8%, according to the statement.
