On July 7, 2025, the Council of Ministers approved, during its meeting chaired by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the draft law on the prevention of and fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, as well as the draft law on the protection of natural persons in the processing of personal data.
After reviewing and debating the draft laws on the prevention of and fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, and on the protection of natural persons in the processing of personal data, the Council of Ministers approved both bills, taking into account the guidelines of the President of the Republic, who stated that "Algeria has established strict rules and control mechanisms to combat all forms of corruption, after having made significant progress in the fight against all forms of crime, particularly those related to financial matters, as well as in the protection of individuals," according to the Council of Ministers statement.
